The House of Representatives finally passed a bill on Tuesday that would provide expanded security protections to the immediate family members of the Supreme Court justices in the wake of the alleged assassination attempt against Justice Brett Kavanaugh last week.

The bill, Supreme Court Police Parity Act, passed the House by a 396 – 27 vote margin. 205 Republicans voted in favor of the bill while 3 did not vote. Meanwhile, 191 Democrats voted in favor, 2 did not vote, while 27 voted “no” to the legislation to provide protection to SCOTUS justices and their family members.

These are the 27 House Democrats who opposed the legislation:

  • Reps. Joyce Beatty (Ohio)

The bill now heads to Joe Biden to be signed into law. Supreme Court Police Parity Act of 2022 was introduced by Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) and passed the Senate last month.

“The bill offers “around-the-clock security protection” to family members of Supreme Court justices and “any officer” of the bench if the court marshal deems it necessary, protections similar to those of some executive and congressional officials,” The Hill reported.

Some personalities went on Twitter to vent out their frustrations against the Democrats who opposed the bill.

Last week, a California man was arrested overnight near the Maryland home of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. The man reportedly told police he was there to kill Kavanaugh. After the story broke, the Supreme Court issued a statement confirming the incident.

NBC News reported the man had a gun, knife and pepper spray–and took a taxi to Kavanaugh’s neighborhood, “Multiple law enforcement officials say that a man was arrested overnight near the home of Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

The left-wing group Ruth Sent Us called for more protests against Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett.

They hinted at protesting at Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s church — and at the school she sends her seven kids.

In a tweet, they mentioned the name of the church Barrett attends and the name of her children’s school.
